Let’s face it, new year’s resolutions are rubbish. Not only does one feel enormous pressure to make unrealistic promises that are-apparently-to be adhered to for the rest of the year (even though you know deep down that this will probably not happen), but then the guilt ensues when said promises are broken. Well, dear under sink chiller blog reader, we think we can help. With 2011 already in full swing, and many aforementioned resolutions well and truly broken, why not make a real change this year, and promise yourself to order and oversee the installation of your very own under sink chiller. Things that Should not be Chilled

If you’re lucky/sensible enough to be the proud owner of one of our great under sink chiller units, you’ll know that having lovely, cool water on tap (oh we are funny) really makes life that much better. Of course, not everything is better when it’s cold, which is why this week, under sink chiller fans, we’re sharing some tips on which foodstuffs should be kept out of the fridge:

Honey: If you put honey in the fridge, it will harden and crystallise, making it very difficult to put on your toast. If this does happen, the process can be reversed by placing it in a pan of hot water, but it’s best not to make it do so in the first place.
Bread: Putting your bread in the fridge warps the structure of the starch, making it tough to bite into. Keep your loaf soft and fresh in a bread bin.
Tomatoes: Leaving tomatoes in a cold place has completely the opposite effect to bread, but is still unpleasant; they’ll turn mushy in the fridge.

There is no need, dear under sink chiller fan, to despair in the fact that this blog series- in which we explore ways in which you can make yourself super-thirsty, and thus enjoy the taste of water from your under sink chiller, to the max- has reached its final instalment. The blog will continue next fortnight, and there will be more words of wisdom. To go out with a bang, however, we have left one of the best of our favoured activities until last; horse riding. Wherever you are across the UK, your local riding stables will almost certainly have lessons and organised hacks (a load of horses going out at once) for all ages and abilities, with the emphasis on joining in and giving it a go. Just imagine, the feeling of the wind in your hair as you gallop along- and before you even know it, you’ll have really strong legs (and everything else) from all that saddle-sitting and balancing. Not only this, but it’s a great way to make friends that you can then invite back to yours for a nice cup of tea made from your under sink chiller.

Make Music with your Under Sink Chiller

There’s nothing better, on any day of the week, at any hour, of any time of year, than getting together with your mates and making some sweet, sweet music. Of course, for the melodically challenged section of the population, this activity can be somewhat degrading, humiliating, and just down right boring. No longer, say we here at under sink chiller HQ, as we have come up with a solution which means that everyone can get involved as they wish. All you need is some milk bottles (or wine, or cider, or anything you like, as long as they’re glass), and, if you’re picky about the liquid you’ll be using, some water from your under sink chiller. For those who are not fussed, tap water will suffice. Simply fill each bottle with a different level of water, place in water-height order (also, cleverly, the order of the musical notes), and blow into the rim of each bottle, delicately and with feeling, thus creating a wonderful improvised tune as you please. If you’re feeling really jazzy, add food colouring to the water to make each bottle look extra-funky.
So there you have it- a way to spend a rainy, or sunny, afternoon doing something that is guaranteed to keep everyone occupied for at least twenty minutes. Restaurant pays for having dirty Under Sink Chiller

A Chinese restaurant in Kent has recently had the blow of being fined over £11,000 for several breaches in hygiene laws, and continuously putting customers at risk of severe food poisoning. Steven Ly, the company secretary for Toto Experience Ltd- previously trading as Kings Hill Palace- pleaded guilty to four charges at Sevenoaks Magistrates Court.
The specified offences included restaurant chefs using the same, unwashed chopping board to prepare both raw chicken and cooked meat, accumulated fat and grease over several parts the cookers and fryers, and the washing/sink areas being relatively filthy. Furthermore, the taps on the under sink chiller water supply for the whole kitchen had not been attended to or cleaned for quite some time, meaning that even washing facilities were less than mediocre. Not only this, but refrigeration conditions of food were extremely poor, with several areas of black mould present on shelves and inside the fridge door.
Of course, a story like this is not something anyone who’s ever eaten at a restaurant wants to hear, and it has been reported that management at Toto Experience Ltd are taking necessary steps to improve conditions on site.

We love a bit of light internet reading on our lunch break/after work/just before bed, particularly when we come across witty, interesting and generally entertaining blogs such as the ones we strive to write here at under sink chiller HQ. This week, as we scoured the web for something to get our teeth into, we came across a poignant yet amusing piece on FilmThreat.com, a site which began once upon a time as a college film fanzine, and has now become something of an institution. The piece in question, written lovingly, and yet with a hint of concern, by John Wildman, spoke of how the classic horror film, in which we may well witness various disgusting creatures taking various attempts on a mortal’s life, by jumping out on them from beneath the under sink chiller, or indeed oozing through cracks in doors, letting nothing stand in their way, just isn’t the same these days. Wildman went on to observe that it’s the shock factor, and the audience using every part of themselves to will the protagonist to avoid their inevitable downfall, that so many directors and horror producers seem to be missing at the moment.
